World Environment Day – 2026

Attock Refinery Limited (ARL), in collaboration with the National Cleaner Production Center (NCPC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Rawalpindi, celebrated World Environment Day 2026 at ARL to raise awareness about this year’s theme, “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.” The event highlighted the importance of taking meaningful environmental actions at both individual and collective levels to protect nature, address climate challenges, and secure a sustainable future. Representatives from EPA delivered informative presentations on key environmental concerns and the need for responsible practices, while university students actively participated by displaying posters prepared in connection with World Environment Day, reflecting their creativity and commitment to environmental sustainability. At the end of the session, an awareness walk was conducted with participation from ARL management, NCPC and EPA representatives, university students, and other attendees, symbolizing their shared commitment to environmental protection and restoration of the natural environment.

Safety Week – 2026

Attock Refinery Limited (ARL) marked its, Annual Safety Week 2026 held April 27-30, 2026 in line with International Labour Organization’s (ILO) World Day for Safety and Health at Work theme: “Ensuring a Healthy Psychosocial Working Environment.”

ARL has been observing Safety Week for over two decades, reflecting its enduring commitment towards health, safety and environmental stewardship.

Following the opening ceremony, which was graced by the CEO, safety walk was conducted by refinery employees, demonstrating steadfast commitment and dedication towards promoting a safety-first culture throughout the refinery. The activity reinforced collective responsibility in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Throughout Safety Week, safety talks were conducted across all departments, focusing on the theme of psychosocial well-being. These sessions aimed to enhance awareness regarding mental health, workplace stress, and the importance of a supportive work environment, while actively engaging employees at all levels.

Moreover, classroom sessions were conducted on a range of critical and modern-day topics, including “Psychosocial Safety at Workplace: Myth vs. Reality,” “Transforming ARL into a Smart Refinery: AI-Enabled Predictive Safety, Reliability and Operational Excellence,” “Human Factors in Process Safety: The Hidden Risk in Operations,” and “Safety Precautions During Preventive Maintenance of Rotary Equipment.” These sessions were designed to strengthen both behavioral and operational aspects of safety within the refinery.

In addition, ARL collaborated with Rescue 1122 to conduct an interactive session on “Psychosocial Working Environment and Emergency Services,” highlighting the role of emergency responders in managing workplace incidents while addressing psychosocial factors during emergencies.

E-Procurement transformation signing ceremony

Attock Refinery Limited (ARL) and Tejari Pakistan (a leading e- procurement solution provider) have joined together for the implementation of E-Procurement system. This marked the formal execution of the Software License, Implementation, and Support Agreement for the deployment of the e-Procurement solution at ARL. This milestone reflects ARL’s strategic commitment to digital transformation and enhanced transparency in its procurement processes.

Attock Refinery Limited (ARL) proudly launched its Safety Week 2025 celebrations on April 28, 2025, marking a significant milestone—over two decades of dedicated Safety Week observances. This year’s celebrations align with the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2025 theme: “Revolutionizing Health and Safety: The Role of AI and Digitalization at Work.”

Our management’s steadfast commitment to employee safety continues to drive innovation, ensuring that we not only meet industry standards but consistently exceed them. This year’s focus on AI and digitization underscores our dedication to integrating cutting-edge technologies to protect our people and processes.

World Environment Day – 2025

ARL celebrated World Environment Day 2025 with a renewed commitment to environmental stewardship, aligning with this year’s global theme, “Beating Plastic Pollution.” A week-long series of activities were organized to raise awareness and promote responsible environmental practices. Awareness sessions were conducted in nearby schools to engage young minds on the importance of eliminating plastic waste and adopting sustainable alternatives. Within the Refinery premises, various training sessions were held throughout the week to educate employees on emerging environmental issues and the significance of this year’s theme. On June 5th, an awareness walk was also arranged in collaboration with the National Cleaner Production Centre (NCPC) and the Environment Protection Agency (EPA), Rawalpindi. The walk witnessed active participation from ARL employees, reflecting their dedication to collective environmental responsibility. In addition, a plantation drive was carried out to promote climate resilience and support long-term environmental sustainability. During the event, ARL and NCPC management delivered their remarks, emphasizing the importance of individual responsibility to tackle plastic pollution. These activities served as a reminder of the urgent need to reduce plastic consumption and encouraged employees and the community to adopt more sustainable lifestyles in support of a cleaner and healthier future.

World Environment Day – 2024

ARL celebrated World Environment Day 2024 to reaffirm its commitment to the betterment of the environment, focusing on this year’s theme of “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience”. Awareness sessions were conducted in nearby schools and inside the Refinery. These sessions aimed to educate about concerns related to environmental protection, the impacts of climate change, their repercussions, and the necessary actions that need to be taken. On June 5th, an awareness walk was also arranged inside the Refinery. A large number of employees participated in the walk and showed their commitment to the shared responsibility. Additionally, the latest regulations imposed by the EPA, Punjab regarding the ban on plastic bags were shared with the participants to encourage them to join hands with the government for a plastic-free Punjab.

Safety Week – 2024

Attock Refinery Limited Celebrated Safety Week from April 22nd to April 26th, 2024, in alignment with the International Labor Organization’s World Day for Occupational Health and Safety at Work, which falls on April 28th. The theme for this year, according to ILO is “impacts of climate change on occupational safety and health”.

On the first day of the week, safety walk was conducted by refinery employees, demonstrating our steadfast commitment to fostering a safety-first culture throughout refinery. Safety week served to emphasize our dedication to creating a workplace environment that prioritizes the well-being and safety of every individual.

Throughout Safety Week, safety talks were organized to engage shop floor level employees and gather their feedback on hazards associated with climate change, including excessive heat, extreme weather events, and air pollution. Moreover, classroom sessions were conducted on topics such as Behavior Based Safety, Operational Safety, Digital Technologies in Plant Safety, and Contractor’s Safety, aimed at enhancing the safety culture within the refinery.

Moreover, ARL collaborated with National Highway & Motorway Police and Rescue 1122 to facilitate an interactive session on Road Safety and Role of Emergency Services in the Community.

Earth Day 2024

Attock Refinery Limited (ARL), in collaboration with the National Cleaner Production Center (NCPC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Rawalpindi, Punjab, celebrated Earth Day at ARL’s Morgah Biodiversity Park on Monday. An awareness walk was organized, attended by local school children, university volunteers, and representatives from Murree Brewery Co. Ltd. The primary objective of the walk was to raise awareness about this year’s Earth Day theme, “Planet Versus Plastics,” and to underscore the urgent need to combat plastic pollution.

During the event, officials from ARL and EPA addressed the participants, emphasizing the criticality of the issue and discussing the necessary steps to address plastic pollution. The event concluded with the symbolic planting of a tree, symbolizing the commitment of the participants to environmental restoration efforts.

World Energy Day 2023

As a responsible corporate entity, ARL is cognizant that natural energy resources are not only scarce but also very precious and need to be optimally utilized. In this realm, World Energy Day was celebrated at ARL on October 26, 2023 to reaffirm its commitment and inculcate energy management and conservation culture. This celebration is being organized in-line with World Energy Day (22nd October).

The purpose of this celebration was to educate, motivate and enhance energy consciousness of employees for strengthening their commitment towards energy conservation at workplace. Energy awareness sessions were arranged throughout the organization to ensure maximum participation of all the employees including the shop floor level workers for creating awareness about energy management & conservation.
